An incredible game of football that will have been loved by the neutrals but Southampton and Arsenal fans will no doubt be disappointed their sides didn't come away with three priceless three points.

The battle at the top and bottom of the table continues and there's plenty more Premier League action this weekend. See you then!

  2. Post update

Almost time for us to head off. Here's Emma Smith's report on an incredible game of football as Arsenal fought back to draw with Southampton.

  3. 'Can't wait for Man City game'

    FT: Arsenal 3-3 Southampton

'I love my players more than ever'- reaction as Arsenal rescue point (2)

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, speaking to BBC Sport: "Obviously disappointed with the result. We made it really difficult for ourselves with the way we started the game, giving one away and then another.

"We kept trying and created chance after chance, we went for it and the atmosphere at the end we all believed we would win it and we had two really good chances.

"The support that we get, the love we get, it is complete cohesion with the spirit of the players.

"We were so, so, so close to winning.

"I didn't see anybody hiding, everyone was going for it and really wanted it."

On Wednesday's game with Manchester City: "I cannot wait, these are the games you want to play. When everything is at stake you have to go there to win. The game will be prepared to that, that is for sure."

"It is the beauty of this sport, you want to be in these positions. We will have an incredible trip to Manchester and we will prepare really well."

  4. 'That's two points dropped' Ruben Selles

    FT: Arsenal 3-3 Southampton

'I love my players more than ever'- reaction as Arsenal rescue point (3)

    Southampton

Southampton boss Ruben Selles speaking to Sky Sports after the game: "I think from the very beginning we showed we are going to press high and sometimes it is hard to play against teams such as Arsenal and City as they have quality.

"We showed character and we showed what we can do we are proud of the work ethic and that is the way we need to follow from now.

    On the tactical changes:

"Carlos Alcarez has his yellow card and with any high pressure moment he could get another second yellow, we decided to go with more players in there [defence].

"We always prepare games to win the matches and against City and Arsenal as it is very difficult for us, we always analyse the performance and we need to be a lot more energetic."

    On Bednarek coming off:

"Well he always wants to play and alway be on the pitch, of course he is a competitive and he wants to play in the game.

"I have some characters, they are working together and they are coaching together, so this is the level we have."

    On the team's morale:

"That's two points dropped, but from me we showed something. For me it also two points dropped, but it is very hard here. I told them they did a fantastic job and we need to continue."

    On relegation:

"We have been feeling that it is there we didn't get what we wanted in the game and last three games we have done really good I think we need that to show what we can do it. We need the momentum."

  5. 'It's a massive blow'

    FT: Arsenal 3-3 Southampton

'I love my players more than ever'- reaction as Arsenal rescue point (4)

    Southampton

Southampton's James Ward-Prowse speaking to Sky Sports after the game: "A great game to play and incredible atmosphere and you can definitely feel the positive feeling here. We took our chances really well and we knew they'd come on in the second-half. It's a good point to come here, but we are disappointed not to take all three.

"It's a massive blow, but we have to take a lot of positives from it and I was surprised to see eight minutes at the end, a strange amount to be added on. But we have to defend better.

"We lost our identity a bit and Ruben has definitely got that back on track with the high aggressive press.I think we tired towards the end and we came up against a world-class side."

"We need to follow it up with good performance and good results. We always get good points against the so called good teams but need to follow it up in following games."

"There here is still a lot of football. We've got to keep believing."

  6. 'No-one is hiding'

    FT: Arsenal 3-3 Southampton

'I love my players more than ever'- reaction as Arsenal rescue point (5)

    Arsenal

Here's more from Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta.

Still fighting? "It hasn't changed. Obviously the task is even bigger but now we have to do the simple things better and cut out mistakes and then you will win games."

Manchester City game like a final? "It is not a final because there are still six games to go. The concern is turning around these moments especially if the players in some moments are in doubt. In football you go through moments when you make errors and are not in a good moment but you have to come away from that.

"I have not seen anybody hiding, the opposite, they are willing to do more and more.

"I agree. Very confident, today is a good example of the level they can show, how capable they are to play against a different type of opponent. The spirit is incredible and we have to try and do it again."

  7. 'I love my players more than ever'

    FT: Arsenal 3-3 Southampton

'I love my players more than ever'- reaction as Arsenal rescue point (6)

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, speaking to Sky Sports: "Obviously unhappy with the result, We made it very difficult again for ourselves but mistakes are part of football but the way we reacted I love my players more than ever.

"It is incredible, we were on the way back, we conceded again with a sloppy goal but in the end we should have won the game. We created enough chances and opportunities but it didn't happen and we are disappointed.

"You can't concede three goals in this league, if you concede three like we did in a sloppy way it is very difficult to win matches.

"This young team reacts in a way that is incredible, when it is against the odds but the chances they created and the spirit they had it was a joy to watch. The message is clear that I love them.

"We are down and they are more willing than anybody to win it. You can see that spirit and fight in the dressing room but it is clear we have to do defensively things better."

  8. 'Arsenal have to do something miraculous'

    FT: Arsenal 3-3 Southampton

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher talking to Sky Sports:

You can feel the disappointment. It was such a great gamefor the neutrals but for both teams, it will be disappointment.

Arsenal have to go to City and get three points to win theleague now I think.

It is still in Arsenal's hands and that shows how far aheadthey were. They are going to have to do something miraculous now. It is goingto have to be really special.

  9. Title decider?

The Wednesday night showdown at the Etihad Stadium between Man City and Arsenal will be the ninth time in Premier League history that the top two have met inthe final six games of the season (for the leader) with five points or fewerbetween them.

Onfive of the eight previous occasions, the team to win the game went on to winthe title. Only two times have the team who went into the game in second placegone on to win the title.

Thelast time there was a title showdown like this, back in 2014, neither team wonthe league. Chelsea beat leaders Liverpool after 36 games but City went on towin the title.

  10. 'It is not over'

    FT: Arsenal 3-3 Southampton

'I love my players more than ever'- reaction as Arsenal rescue point (7)

    Arsenal

Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus, speaking to Sky Sports: "A lot of things is going on now. We don't want to come here and talk negative because we are very positive, what we are doing this season is amazing. The Premier League is tough.

"Now is the difficult moment. It is time now to stick together until the end. We still have a lot of things to do this season, it is not over, we are still five points clear. Manchester City have two games in hand but if we want to be champions we have to go there to win the game - that is all.

"We are the youngest team in the league, not making excuses. Sometimes we do right and sometimes we do wrong, everyone can make mistakes that is why it is so important to stick together.

"Everything can happen. Obviously we are not happy with the last three games, we dropped points and we know this is true, no one has to tell us. We dropped a little bit of our level and focus, this is the Premier League, it is so difficult to win this competition.

"We are still there, we are still fighting and we will fight until the end."

Here's how it looks at the bottom of the table.

Southampton were so close to being one point from safety but while they are three points adrift after that draw the performance will surely give their fans belief their side will scrap for survival.

A few more minutes and you'd think Arsenal may well have snatched a winner.

Brilliant from Southampton to get in such a strong position and heartbreak for them to only finish with a point but what a fight back showed by Arsenal, although it did perhaps come too late.

The home players do look gutted on the pitch. They managed to get a point but is that going to be enough to stop Manchester City's charge?

All eyes on the game between the two at the Etihad now next week.
