God Of War Ragnarok: 10 Things You Need To Do After Beating The Game (2024)

God Of War Ragnarok is a fantastic game, offering an intricate and epic narrative throughout Kratos and Atreus’ journey toward stopping Ragnarok. While the final hours of the game offer a worthy end to the incredible Norse saga for Kratos and Atreus, the game continues on after the initial credits roll, giving Kratos the chance to continue exploring the realms, wrapping up unfinished business, and saying his goodbyes to a fantastic setting.

There are some must-see events in the post-game of Ragnarok, and most of them you won’t know about until you stumble across them in your travels.

This article includes spoilers for God of War Ragnarok's endgame.

10 Hunt Down Odin’s Ravens

God Of War Ragnarok: 10 Things You Need To Do After Beating The Game (1)

Just like in the previous game, you have another batch of Odin’s Ravens lurking around the different realms. In God of War (2018), collecting all of Odin’s Ravens was a trophy, but it offered little satisfaction beyond that. In God of War Ragnarok, hunting down all 48 Odin’s Ravens not only rewards you with pieces of armor and powerful gear items, but after ‘turning in’ all 48 in Niflheim, you will unlock a secret boss fight: The Raven Keeper.

This boss is one of Odin’s acolytes and is responsible for creating the green ethereal ravens you’ve been hunting down since 2018. Defeat her to earn a powerful Relic.

9 Find Skjoldr In Midgard

God Of War Ragnarok: 10 Things You Need To Do After Beating The Game (2)

Kratos, Mimir, and Freya can encounter Skjoldr -- Atreus’ mortal friend from Asgard – while traveling in Midgard. Specifically, you’ll come across Skjoldr near The Derect Outpost Mystic Gateway in Midgard. Do you remember the coin Odin gave Atreus as payment for damaging Kratos and Atreus’ house near the start of the game? Kratos threw the coin far away when they first left.

Well, Skjoldr found it embedded in a rockface. He’s busying himself trying to pry the coin from the stone. Revisit him a few times for some updated dialogue. Ragnarok’s post-credits endgame is full of these little interactions. You aren’t led toward them by questlines; they’re simply rewards for journeying through the world post-Ragnarok.

8 Visit Sanctuary Grove

God Of War Ragnarok: 10 Things You Need To Do After Beating The Game (3)

After beating the game and once you’re dumped back into the world with Kratos, Freya, and Mimir, you’ll find a new Mystic Gateway accessible in Midgard. Travel to Sanctuary Grove to visit Chaurli. This provides Freya the chance to apologize for abandoning her giant turtle house. Forgiveness isn’t an easy thing here, and their relationship is still damaged, but it’s an opportunity to begin healing.

Also, if you completed Beregar’s questline and told him about a quiet place to live, you’ll meet him here as well, tending to the fire and keeping Chaurli company. If you didn’t do this yet, you might want to…

7 Complete Any Remaining Side Quests

God Of War Ragnarok: 10 Things You Need To Do After Beating The Game (4)

This should go without saying, but if you have any lingering side quests you haven’t completed yet, now’s the time to do them! With Atreus off on his own adventure, and Freya accompanying Kratos and Mimir full-time, the game’s side quests take on a new light.

Freya has some fantastic dialogue written just for this scenario, providing her own unique perspective on the different side quests that were originally intended for Atreus. During the Secret of the Sands quest, for example, Kratos and Freya actually talk about missing Atreus, and how proud they are of him.

6 Visit Angrboda In Jotunheim

God Of War Ragnarok: 10 Things You Need To Do After Beating The Game (5)

This is your first chance to revisit Jotunheim since traveling there as Atreus partway into the game. Now, you’ll get to visit as Kratos. There isn’t a huge playable space here -- only the hub area is accessible -- but you’ll be treated to some wonderful conversations between Kratos, Freya, Mimir, and Angrboda.

They’ll talk about the climactic battle at Asgard, Atreus, and her art. Did I forget to mention Fenrir is there as well -- and Kratos will be able to pet the good boy? This trip is short, but it’s practically required viewing.

5 Travel The Open World

God Of War Ragnarok: 10 Things You Need To Do After Beating The Game (6)

Simply traveling around the semi-open world sections -- Midgard, Svartalfheim, Alfheim, and Vanaheim -- provides some fantastic new dialogue between Kratos, Freya, and Mimir. They will discuss the events of the end of the game, sure, but they’ll also discuss the different areas you’re exploring.

While traveling the deserts of Alfheim, for example, Freya will regale Kratos and Mimir with stories of Freyr’s relationship with the Light and Dark Elves, explaining in greater detail why he was so beloved by the elves. Speaking of…

4 Visit Freyr’s Camp In Vanaheim

God Of War Ragnarok: 10 Things You Need To Do After Beating The Game (7)

Freyr’s camp, home to several colorful characters during the campaign, feels a bit emptier now, but it’s worth visit to get an update on the Asgardian refugees. You’ll find Hildisvini speaking with Lady Sif, making plans to house many of the Asgardian refugees in Vanaheim.

The conversation is relatively brief, but it’s a wonderful moment to witness the continued healing at work in a post-Odin world. The last time you saw Sif, she was sitting with Thrud after the battle of Asgard. You’ll notice she’s not here with her mother now. There’s a good reason for that.

3 Find Mjolnir In The Alfheim Desert

God Of War Ragnarok: 10 Things You Need To Do After Beating The Game (8)

You might have been wondering what happened to Mjolnir after the battle for Asgard. Well, the game has an answer for you. Lunda even suggests you visit this location -- you don't want to miss it. Travel to the Canyons Gateway in Alfheim. Once you arrive, you’ll find Mjolnir and Thrud sitting a short distance away.

After a few moments, she will pick up Mjolnir and leap into the sky, raining lightning in her wake. Many players were undoubtedly disappointed not to be able to wield Mjolnir themselves, but if anyone else deserves such a mighty weapon, it’s Thrud.

2 Niflheim’s Broken Prison

God Of War Ragnarok: 10 Things You Need To Do After Beating The Game (9)

One of the post-credits questlines involves hunting down the remnants of Asgard -- several outposts of Einherjar warriors scattered across the realms. In Niflheim, nearby the Raven Tree, you’ll find a huge Asgardian Prison crashed down into this frigid realm. This isn’t some quick encampment to conquer, but a multi-tier structure with some tricky puzzles to solve.

Making your way to the very bottom is more than worth it, however, as you will encounter a very surprising character -- the real Tyr. After encountering him and freeing him, you’ll actually see him at a few other locations throughout the realm, including Freyr’s Camp in Vanaheim and the Watchtower in Svartalfheim. Can you find him anywhere else?

1 Complete A Viking Funeral

God Of War Ragnarok: 10 Things You Need To Do After Beating The Game (10)

Perhaps the ideal end-cap to the game, A Viking Funeral is a short but crucial side quest that has Kratos, Mimir, and Freya visiting Svartalfheim to attend Brok’s funeral. This is a touching send-off to a fantastic character, and it also reinforces the anguish that Sindri is still experiencing.

While credits begin to roll earlier in the game, when Kratos is walking through the post-Ragnarok recovery area, the game’s true final credits will begin to roll after completing A Viking Funeral, providing a fitting and bittersweet end to a phenomenal game.
